Rarely can you find comfort food that is more comforting than a good pie. You take the piping hot pie in your hands (with some insulation please!), poke through the crust with a fork, and lift a little bite with the juicy filling and the crispy crust. Put it into your mouth. Close your eyes for a moment and savour it. Be amazed and off you go for the next bite!

That was my experience when I first tried their Beyond Meat Aussie Mince Pie. I'm not personally a huge fan of plant-based meat, but this is a pleasant surprise. I am not exaggerating - this is probably the best pie I have had in my life, vegan or non-vegan. Having met Chef RJ, it is not hard to understand why he can create all these beautiful pastries - passion is the key! He loves doing what he does and he loves bringing joy to people through his creations. He is very supportive of the plant-based movement and wants to make plant-based pies more accessible to everyone by expanding his retail network and keeping the price low. Kudos to you RJ!

Besides the Beyond Meat Aussie Mince Pie, Vegan Omnipork Sausage Rolls are also available at Great Food Hall, and they will soon offer Vegan Apple Crumble Bites as well! For those of you who are living in the Fo Tan area, you can also order online and pick them up directly from their Fo Tan Factory! Their Pie & Beer Shack will also be opened soon in Causeway Bay. Stay tuned and can't wait to have a pie party with you all!

Let's discover the story behind this well-loved brand! It is always nice to appreciate the journey and the hard work that went into these conscious businesses and connect with the souls behind!

Our tag line, From Our Heart To Your Home, is something I believe in. We make our products with passion and love and we want our customers to enjoy each pie or item we bake.

Tell us about Tai Tai Pie Pies!

Tai Tai Pie Pies was founded from a Passion for Pies, I love pies and enjoyed making them. We started as an incubator project in 2010, out of the house and quickly grew into a sustainable business. We offer retail, wholesale and frozen packaged goods. We focus on high quality ingredients and making traditional and unique flavors of Sweet and Savory Pies, quiche, cakes, cheesecakes, sweet breads and cookies. We still make everything by hand including our 18 varieties of doughs and crusts and all our fillings. Our tag line, From Our Heart To Your Home, is something I believe in. We make our products with passion and love and we want our customers to enjoy each pie or item we bake.

Why did you choose to become a SocialVegan Eatery Partner?

Based on a lot of conversations with friends and colleagues, we decided to make a Non Meat item (vegan) that is in the pie category which is something anyone would eat. Much like the burgers that are out now, you have a hard time telling them apart. We tested a few varieties of meat alternatives and found two we were happy with that made a great pie filling and a wonderful Italian sausage alternative for a roll. We still make the Omn!Pork Sausage Roll in a Pie dough like our Ultimate version as I wanted something different. It is really hard to tell them from their meat counterparts. Since the launch a week ago, customers have been coming in saying that we have made their day offering a TRUE Pie that is Vegan. I enjoy them also and I am not a Vegan or Vegetarian. We will continue to develop new flavors and hopefully soon a Crab alternative Pie and a Minced Chicken Pie.
